Up up and away...

How cute this fondant hot air balloon? How I wish I can ride one in the future. I mean the real one.

My client was asking for a hot air balloon themed cake and so I thought I would like to share how to make this very lovely fondant creation.

Let's get started.

Things you'll need:

1. Fondant ( blue, red, pink, yellow and white)

2. Smoother

3. Acrylic rolling pin

4. Knife/ cutter

5. Piping tip (round)

6. Heart Shaped cutter

7. Skewer/ Sticks (4 pieces)

8. Styro ball(5") and round (2")

9. Brush and water to glue things together

Instructions:

Roll fondant into 2 long strips (thick and thin) and a circle.

Wrap around the fondant strips to the round stryo and stick the circle fondant on top.

Roll white fondant into small balls. These will be the clouds around the blue basket.

Mark the styro ball with pencil into 8 parts. Roll 4 pink and 4 yellow fondant like round sided diamonds.

Stick pink and yellow fondant alternately into the styro ball.

Roll red fondant into thin log. Cut it into 2" long. Then roll another red log, this will be put on the bottom of the balloon.

Stick these 2" logs (like spaghetti sticks) into the side of the balloon. These will be the rope design of the balloon.

Roll white fondant into a long strip, enough to wrap around the balloon. Cut out small blue fondant circles using the piping tip. Roll white fondant and form into heart shapes, use the heart cutter.

Stick heart in between the red ropes. Stick around the white strip into the balloon and glue the blue circles into white fondant.

We are almost done... yehey !!!

Poke 4 holes using the wooden sticks in the blue basket and in the bottom of the balloon. These will connect the 2 parts of the hot air balloon.

And there you have it.. You have a very cute fondant hot air balloon.

Let's fly up up and away!!!
